In many cases, mostly due to a lack of available foster homes, our pets are on a waiting list to get transported to the PA, tri-state area. So, another popular option with many of our adopters—in order to secure the pet they are interested in—is our Transport-Foster-To-Adopt Program. If the pet you want is currently out-of-state, we will have it transported to a transfer location closest to you within a week or two after the signed agreement between you and Charlie’s Crusaders Pet Rescue is approved. You will meet the transport at the designated location, take him/her home, and begin the Foster-to-Adopt period of time. If you find at any point during this period that you and your Adopted Pet are not a good fit, we will find someone else to foster or adopt him/her. We realize there are no guarantees, but we usually have a pretty good success rate with this option to adopt.
We don’t want to waste our time (or yours!) if the dog will not be a good fit, so by honestly answering the questions on our application, we get a better picture of who you are and what dog will be a good fit and what dog won’t. For example, we will not adopt out a puppy to a household where there isn’t a plan in place for the puppy to not be alone for more than 4 hours. We will not adopt a high energy dog to a low energy household.
Adoptable dogs are placed in foster homes in our adoptable areas. You may notice that some of our dogs are listed as being located in Horn Lake, MS. This is where our rescue was founded, and usually means the dog's entry has yet to be updated. We do our best to keep everything as up to date as possible but with over 100 dogs, the location may not be correct. If you have questions about a specific dog, just ask!
Meet and Greets are available upon request, but only to approved adopters. Once you are approved, please work with your application handler to discuss arrangements for a meet and greet.
We also frequently don’t know much information about all of the dogs and puppies that are rescued. Many are found wandering the streets, litters are found with no parents and so on so we may not know the breed, age, or maximum weight and size a dog will get. We may not even have a full personality profile yet (like if the dog likes cats or is too rough for a home with small children) because many of our dogs are being rescued from dire situations or coming from a shelter with limited information.
If the dog or puppy you are looking to adopt is still available for adoption, you will see them on our list of Adoptable Dogs.
Please note that we frequently get many applications for the same dog and one of our applications team members may be in the process of approving an application for that dog. If this is the case, we will let you know if there is another dog we think would be a good fit for your home and lifestyle. There is no shortage of dogs and puppies that need saved so check our website frequently for your new best friend.

The adoption fee is $450. This covers all or part (depending on the dog) of the medical care, supplies, and transportation costs we have incurred after rescue in getting your dog ready to be adopted. This reimbursement enables us to continue to be able to rehome abandoned and abused dogs.
